Full Time ranch hand needed at River Road Cattle Company in Chesterfield, Va assist in our calf-cow operation starting at $15.00 an hour, with a pay increase after 2 months of successful training. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30pm M-F. Candidate must provide own transportation, and housing is not included in this job. We run Wagyu and Angus (recip) breeding herd, and calve in the spring and the fall. We have an established AI and ET program that consumes most of our December. We are a family run and operated business, and there is only one of this kind of position available.

The perfect candidate for us would be:

-Able to lift more than 75 lbs.

-Be able to operate machinery (ATV, Skid Steer, Backhoe)

-Be reliable and honest

-Be a self-starter and able to follow a daily to do list

-Having cattle sorting and handling experience is a plus, but not necessary

-No horsemanship skills needed

-work well in a team setting, as well as alone on day-to-day duties

Daily duties would include:

-Checking over all the animals

-Feeding grain

-putting out hay

-equipment and fence maintenance as needed

Other duties:

-Sorting animals

-cutting / weed eating grass

-accepting grain and hay delivery trucks

-helping with the breeding program

-Loading cattle into trailer
